Taking a good photo is awesome, but doing some simple editing can take that shot from good to AMAZING! This class is for the person who has not done a lot of editing but would like to get a start.
We will use Picasa, a free editing tool from Google as a starting point to show you some basics. It is a very simple yet powerful software package designed for the average hobbyist. We will also demonstrate Photoshop Elements, a very powerful but hobbyist focused application from Adobe. You will learn about:
- Basic cropping and using print size proportions. Along with cropping you will learn some concepts of composition.
- Adjusting exposure as well as improving shadows and highlights and contrast.
- Saturation means how intense the colors are. Playing with this can help add more interest and intensity to a photo or covert it easily to black and whit.
- Simple effects like vignettes, clarity and soft focusing
- File management. How to use keywords and people recognition.
- Discussion/Demo of PhotoShop Elements as your next step in editing tools.
Bringing a laptop loaded with Picasa is not a requirement but is encouraged. There will be some limited time for hands on exercises.
Cost: $30
